Since its formation, NECSA-K has continued to influence legislations in Kenya by providing comments to the on-going legislative processes. Initially, the alliance engaged with the committee of experts (CoE) during the process of developing the constitution. DRIVING CIVIL SOCIETY ACTION THROUGH LOBBYING & ADVOCACY

NECSA-K has advocated for all the development projects to place environmental, social, cultural and economic considerations of affected communities at the center of the Environmental and Social Impacts Assessment processes and procedures. Under these projects, NECSA-K carried out policy dialogues, engagements with duty bearers and strategic stakeholders’ engagement on policy advocacy processes including: reviews of the National Sanitation Policy 2030; petition against the varying forest boundaries section of the Forest Conservation and Management Act 2016 34(1)); memoranda on Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) reports for the proposed Makamini Dam in Kinangop Sub-County, Kwale County and ESIA Reports for the Proposed Quarry in Elementaita and for the construction of the Rironi - Mau Summit Express Highway, Draft Environmental Management and Coordination Bill, 2021; and Natural Resource (Benefit Sharing) Bill 2021.
