Beneficiaries and approaches

During the next five years that form the strategic plan period, NECSA-K shall work to ensure the following benefit from its activities;

• The Kenyan environment and Natural Resources Sector

• Communities who depend on the Kenyan Environment & Natural Resources

• CSOs involved in "environmental and natural resource management governance"

• Collaborators, stakeholders and other member organisations especially coalitions and networks of CSOs

• CBOs involved in environmental and natural resource management

• Policy makers at national and county governments

HOW THIS CAN BE ACHIEVED

The following strategic approaches shall be pursued in implementing this plan:

• NECSA-K shall undertake most of its activities through Action Plans which will be implemented through its members, except for those situations where the collective weight of the membership in the form of the alliance is required.

• In order to ensure that activities are undertaken in a coordinated manner, members shall implement these plans under NECSA-K Task teams that shall be based on the Alliance’s Strategic Programmes

• NECSA-K shall pursue a facilitative role, utilizing the systems structures and programmes of its member organisations and other key stakeholders to pursue the attainment of its strategic results

• Lobbying and advocacy of critical decision makers especially in national and county government as well as other government agencies on issues relating to policy making and enforcement of environment and natural resource management

• Strategic partnering and network and coalition building of stakeholders involved in environment and natural resource management

• Organisational development and capacity building especially of member organisations and networks

JOIN NECSA-K

If you are interested in helping NECSA-K achieve its mandate, you could join NECSA-K as an environmental CSO, CBO or individual interested in environmental advocacy.

Membership is open to credible environmental civil society organizations that demonstrate a commitment to the NECSA-K objectives.  When seeking membership to the organization, a member CSO shall familiarize themselves with the NECSA-K Engagement Guidelines and Principles to understand the guiding principles of the alliance. The prospecting member shall download and sign the Membership Application Form which is submitted to the Alliance through the official email info@necsakenya.org. Additionally, existing members may be required to sign a Membership Reaffirmation Form to validate their membership and will continue to enjoy the voting rights, only subject to any other obligations provided for in these principles and guidelines. New members will be admitted through introduction by an existing member with the approval of the Executive Committee.

The Executive Committee may also admit individual CSOs and/or persons as observers to the NECSA‐K meetings. The observers are CSOs or individuals working in the environment sector. Observers shall be free to contribute opinions/ views with permission of the Chair, but shall not be eligible to vote.

Members of NECSA-K are obligated to pay a onetime registration fee of Ksh. 5000 and an annual membership subscription fee of Ksh. 2500.
